History
The Sociedad Cooperativa Andaluza Santa María de La Rábida was founded in 1982 following strict and exciting business principles based on permanent innovation, quality in our processes and crops and care for the environment.
Today, that great project is now a reality that has turned us into the largest strawberry producer in Europe. We are a leading company that represents our more than 150 members, featuring the work of more than 7,000 people year and after year and more than 70 million kg of fruit every year sold across 23 countries.

Aware of this reality, Fresón de Palos is continuing to develop its brand strategy, seeking to achieve greater recognition and awareness among the company’s millions of end consumers while also striving to build loyalty and strengthen its privileged leadership position among its direct customers. In addition, the cooperative’s ongoing commitment to its immediate surroundings means that the company unconditionally supports numerous social, educational, healthcare, cultural and sports projects.

Fresón de Palos is committed to equality and diversity. We never lose sight that there are still goals that we all need to meet, yet we want to highlight that we are coming increasingly closer to becoming the company that we want to build together.
Currently, women make up 56% of our staff, and while we have achieved parity (50%) in leadership and specialist positions in the company’s different functional departments.
Fresón de Palos advocates for and applies salary equality without any type of discrimination due to gender or place of origin.
The cooperative boasts a compulsory plan that promotes equal rights and opportunities for men and women. We also have a protocol to detect situations of any type of abuse or violence as well as a mechanism for complaints and action through an equality committee.
In the same manner, we demand that our suppliers (both farmers and other providers) comply with legal standards by undergoing external audits. We have zero tolerance for any irregularities in terms of physical or mental health or in employee safety.
Our commitment to our internal employees and external staff from the companies who work with us, as well as the other institutions, associations and media that ensure social well-being and respect for human rights remains a priority for us.
Fruit suppliers are required to join PRELSI, a mediation entity that audits and seeks to improve the working conditions of employees on farms and to guarantee the right to safety and protection at work, as well as the eradication of conduct that violates dignity and discrimination based on sex.
We are certified in GLOBALG.A.P. This organization has developed the GRASP module to evaluate social practices in farm work, addressing specific topics related to employee health, safety and well-being.

In addition to their natural red colour, large size and sustainable production guidelines, our strawberries are prized for their high quality and great taste.
We have filled out the rest of the berry line with blueberries, raspberries and blackberries, fruits with an intense flavour capable of delighting the most demanding palates and which all represent an important source of antioxidants, vitamin C, fibre, potassium and much more.

From start to finish
We track the process every step of the way, from our nurseries, to planting in our members’ fields, careful harvesting, handling, cooling and logistics to our customers’ platforms.

We select each fruit only at its perfect harvest time, always following a strict quality protocol in the field and in our facilities. We do all this while following the most demanding certifications on the market.
Sustainability
We take care of our water and carbon footprint to produce our fruit in the most sustainable way possible while also reducing the use of plastic and creating circular economy projects.

Our cooperative features 150 and boasts more than 40 years of experience. We are not an investment fund, we don’t depend on anyone and we are the owners of our lands, our fruit and our cooperative.

Our berries are produced in the province of Huelva, in the south of Spain.
Our 1,300 hectares are mostly spread in the municipality of Palos de la Frontera, though we are also in the town limits of Moguer, Aljaraque, Almonte, Bonares and Gibraleón.
